The parents of the girls in my daughter’s Daisy Troop take turns leading the monthly meetings. I signed up to lead the crafts lesson this year, and my turn is coming up in April. Since the meeting is right before Easter, I thought I would help the girls make some cards, maybe an Easter card and a Spring card.

To get ready for the meeting, I pulled out my Papertreyink stamp sets called “Egg Hunt” and “Scrambled Eggs.” The first card I made includes the adorable bunny stamp and a couple of the eggs. It’s a pretty simple card because I’m trying to come up with things 7-8 year old girls can do (although the stamping on this one required masking, which is likely a little more complex than what I will have the girls do).

This card was a lesson reinforcer for me because a little of the coral ink smeared on the white background while I was stamping the flowers on the yellow egg. Since the flowers were the last thing I stamped, I didn’t really want to start over. I always try to teach my daughter that nearly all mistakes that you make while crafting can be corrected with a little creativity, so I decided to get rid of the smears on the background by fussy cutting the whole image out. While I was doing this, I realized that cutting out the bunny would allow me to make the ears dimensional, which I think significantly ups the cuteness factor of the card. Hippity happy!
