It’s a “tall & skinny week at Mojo Monday, and this is the sketch:
And here is my card:
This card was made for the Principal of my kids’ elementary school for Principal’s Day (May 1). She is a warm, dedicated and intelligent woman and an amazing leader for the school. She also has a great sense of style, a fabulous wardrobe, and always looks impeccably turned out even when she is deep in the mix with messy little first graders. (Not sure how she pulls that off — I certainly can’t.) Thinking about a card for her brought to mind a stamp I saw recently that quoted the words of Coco Chanel — “A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous.” This got me thinking about fashion, and I was inspired to make a card using a dressmaker’s form die that I got recently, as well as some vintage-looking paper I had left over from another recent project.
The base of my card is a piece of green cardstock left over from my wedding reception name tag project, and it is cut to make a 3.5″ x 6″ card. I used three vintage print papers for the first layer and the two vertical panels, and backed the vertical panels with SU Soft Suede. I also cut the dress form die from Soft Suede. The skirt was made from a piece of gathered white lace that I colored with distress inks while I was distressing the other pieces of the card. I added a small fabric rosette at the waist, and some faux pearls around the neck of the dress form, because what’s more classy than a string of pearls?
