Here is this week’s sketch:
And here is my card:
The design for this card sprang into my mind nearly fully formed the instant I rotated the sketch clockwise 90 degrees to see what it would look like from that angle. I had been looking for a chance to use the “Hands of Time” stamp set by Papertreyink. (It would be difficult to overstate my love for this stamp set!) The instructions note that “the clock faces look stunning when heat embossed, bringing out all of the flourished details,” and they weren’t kidding. I stamped the smaller clock face with silver pigment ink, then embossed with clear embossing powder, and you can see all the scrollwork very clearly:
My intention was to make a card with minimal layers, but I wanted to really emphasize the clock face, so I cut it out with a 2-1/2″ circle die, then punched out the 12 circles around the edge using the circle punch from my SU Itty Bitty Shapes pack. Then I stamped the Roman numeral hours stamp separately on a piece of card stock, cut it out with the same size circle die, and adhered the clock face over it, lining up the hour numbers with the holes. I attached the die cut clock hands using a brad, then popped the whole thing up over the red vertical banners using foam squares. The net effect is to give the face a lot of depth.
I love everything about this card—the clock face, the black die cut clock hands, the red accents, the hexagon border at the top—everything. A perfect start to my week!
